About the organization
ACTED is a French non-governmental organisation founded in 1993. Independent, private and not for profit, ACTED respects a strict political and religious impartiality, and operates according to principles of non-discrimination and transparency.
Our Mission Providing Adapted Responses
• ACTED’s vocation is to support vulnerable populations worldwide and to accompany them in building a better future. The programs implemented by ACTED (more than 380 per year), in 34 countries, aim at addressing the needs of population affected by wars, natural disasters and/or economic and social crises.
• Our interventions seek to cover the multiple aspects of humanitarian and development crises through a multidisciplinary approach which is both global and local, and adapted to each context.
Our Vision Guaranteeing the Link between Emergency, Rehabilitation and Development
• The areas in which our interventions take place being among the poorest in the world, once their immediate needs have been addressed, populations’ living conditions remain critical.
• Based on considerable experience addressing the needs and situations of vulnerable communities, ACTED contributes to the international agenda towards reaching the Millennium Development Goals. Through a wide range of partnerships, ACTED is committed to the promotion and development of innovating approaches and initiatives, humanitarian principles, new forms of solidarity and convergences between private, public and nonprofit stakeholders from the North and the South, for effective and sustainable poverty reduction.
Advocacy in the Service of sustainable development
• For this reason, ACTED’s axis of intervention lies between Emergency, Rehabilitation and Development. In other words, to guarantee the impact and sustainability of interventions in a period of crises, only long term support-ensured by remaining on location after the immediate emergency and by involving communities-can help break the cycle of poverty and support populations on the road to development.
